Happy children

What is the difference between your happiness and your child’s happiness? You are in pursuit of happiness, whereas your child is simply happy when unconditionally loved and nurtured. Of course, children have survival instincts, just like us and they require food, shelter, clothing, medical care, and shielding from harm to protect their emotional well-being.

However, your child’s happiness derives from the bond it has with you. Spending time together, having fun together, reading together will create the emotional security that happiness is built upon.

Happy children are confident and optimistic. As soon as they walk into a room I can tell by their posture if they are happy. Sometimes happy children are and look a little messy. They are loud and utterly self-confident. Happy children want a lot, maybe too much - but that is OK, conquering the world is a great attitude.

Happy children are encouraged, valued, listened to, given greater freedoms - not overly protected, and are surrounded by fantastic role models.

Happy children have an unbreakable self-esteem that needs to be fostered as soon as they are born. Happy children have roles within the family unit that make them feel they are contributing to its success.

Happy children always feel they matter.

So, do not pursue happiness - just be happy as your child and feel the love.
